Keane Becometh the Iceman

Former Sunderland and Ipswich manager Roy Keane is one of the leading candidates to take charge of Iceland's international team.

The ex-Manchester United captain is reported to be the front-runner for the managerial role while former Reading manager Steve Coppell has also been linked with the job.

Keane has been out of work since a disappointing 20-month tenure at Championship side Ipswich. The former Republic of Ireland international was confident of leading Ipswich back into the Premier League but was sacked 20 months into his two-year contract with the club languishing in the lower reaches of the division.

Keane is said to have watched Iceland's Euro 2012 qualifier against Cyprus in Reykjavik last Tuesday and has already held talks with the Icelandic Football Assocition.

The governing body is currently looking for a replacement for Olafur Johannesson who is set to leave next month.
