FIFA Reject Bin Hamman Appeal

Fifa has rejected Mohamed Bin Hammam's appeal against a lifetime ban from all football activities.

The former Asian Football Confederation (AFC) president and a presidential candidate for the 2011 Fifa presidential elections was found guilty of bribery and was banned in July.

Bin Hammam had appealed against that ruling but it has now come to no fruition.

"The Fifa Appeal Committee, under the chairmanship of Francisco Acosta (Ecuador), has confirmed today the decisions taken by the Fifa Ethics Committee on 23 July 2011 regarding the ban on Fifa Executive Committee member Mohammed bin Hammam for a breach of the Fifa Code of Ethics," reads a statement on Fifa's official website.

"The appeal made by Mohammed bin Hammam has been rejected and the decision of the FIFA Ethics Committee confirmed.

"The sanction of being banned from taking part in any kind of football-related activity (administrative, sports or any other) at national and international level for life has therefore been maintained."

Bim Hammam, is refusing to give up the fight though, with his lawyer, Eugene Gulland, confirming that the case would now be taken to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

Gulland said in a statement: "As expected, the FIFA appeals panel, which met in Zurich today, upheld the 23 July ruling by the FIFA ethics committee, and we will therefore be taking our appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS)."
