Barcelona defender Eric Abidal has been discharged from hospital after undergoing a liver transplant last month.
The 32-year-old was confirmed as requiring a transplant earlier this year, almost a year after first undergoing an operation to remove a tumour.
The France international's cousin supplied the donor organ.
A short statement on Barcelona's official website said on Monday: "The French defender was discharged form hospital today after his liver transplant on April 10th.
"The club's medical services released a bulletin explaining: 'Given the particulars of his recovery process. Abidal will have to undergo a number of hospital check-ups.'"
Following his first operation in March 2011, Abidal missed just seven weeks of football, returning to the team for the end-of-season run-in with a number of substitute appearances.
His only start during the spell was in the Champions League final against Manchester United at Wembley, when he was afforded the honour of lifting the trophy.
