Van Nistelrooy Returns to La Liga

Sheikh Abdullah Al Thani arrived in Malaga, for the first time in some months on Tuesday, and set about his plans for the new season at the football club.

On Wednesday the former PSV Eindhoven, Manchester United and Real Madrid player, Ruud van Nistelrooy arrived by private plane in southern Spain to undergo a medical and is now set to return La Liga after his contract at the Hamburg SV was not renewed.

Malaga FC, bought by a member of the Qatari royal family last year, and were one of the biggest spenders in the January transfer window and bought players like Brazil forward Julio Baptista and Argentina defender Martin Demichelis.

They narrowly avoided the drop to the second division, ending the campaign just three points above the relegation places.

Spanish media reports claim he has agreed a one-year contract with an option for a further year depending on appearances.

Van Nistelrooy, who will be 35 on July 1, made 25 Bundesliga appearances for Hamburg last season, scoring seven goals.
