Republic Looking for All Skopje Points

Republic of Ireland senior team captain Robbie Keane will spearhead the attack in Macedonia on Saturday night as the boys in green aim to keep their Euro qualification quest on track.

The striker's availability came into doubt on Thursday following a groin injury picked up training but the ‘Spurs man has been deemed fit enough to lead the forward line.

He explained on the eve of the game: "On Thursday, I did a bit of shooting after training and I felt my groin a small bit. I trained yesterday and it was gradually getting worse.

"I've had treatment since it happened, and last night, and this morning. It feels a lot better.

"I think I'll be okay. I've had these injuries the last few months also and I've carried on through that. A little groin strain is not going to stop me."

Keane's winning goal against Scotland on Sunday brought his international tally to 49 and few would doubt he's capable of reaching the half century mark in Skopje

In terms of qualification, only the best team from each group and the best of those of those who finished in second place will get a automatic places. The eight remaining teams from the nine groups will meet in four playoffs.

The winners of play-off will play in Euro 2012. Qualification matches that will be played from September 2010 to November 2011.

The match between Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia and the Republic of Ireland will kick-off at 20:30 Irish time.
