All Blacks and Crusaders skipper Richie McCaw could make his long-awaited return to Super Rugby this weekend.
The World Cup winning captain has not laced his boots since holding the Webb Ellis Trophy aloft last year due to a long-term foot injury.
Crusaders visit the Waratahs on Sunday and a decision on McCaw's availability will be made early this week.
"He's come so far, there's no point compromising there if he's not 100 percent so we'll make that decision later in the day and if he is fit and does come through, then we would select him," said Blackadder.
The Crusaders coach also sent out a warning to the other Super Rugby teams as their season gathers momentum.
"The guys have turned up really well prepared, they've looked after themselves and they just seem really focused so at the moment this team feels unstoppable," he said.
