Fernando Torres claims he was playing better during his goal drought than he is at the moment, despite grabbing a hat-trick against QPR on Sunday.
With his confidence boosted by a late, and vital, strike in Chelsea's memorable UEFA Champions League display against Barcelona, the Spaniard is starting to look more like his former self.
He has struggled throughout his time at Stamford Bridge, with a £50million price tag weighing heavy around his neck.
Torres is, however, back among the goals and his treble in a 6-1 routing of QPR helped to fire Chelsea to within a point of the Premier League's top four.
The former Liverpool star believes there is still plenty more to come from him, though, with it his opinion that he is not yet back to his best.
"In the past I was feeling very good, very sharp, playing well, but I couldn't score," Torres told Sky Sports.
"Now I feel I'm not playing as well as before, but I am scoring goals which is the important thing for the strikers."
While he feels he can only get better, Torres admits that Chelsea have hit top gear at just the right time - with it possible that they could end the season inside the top four and as FA Cup and Champions League winners.
"We knew we needed to finish in the top four and win all the games for rest of the season," he said.
"I am very happy with three (goals), hopefully the first of many, but the more important thing for me is the team looks like they are playing their best football of the season with important games to come."
