Blues Baber Earn Dublin Trip

Cardiff backs coach Gareth Baber is 'over the moon' after the Blues secured a Heineken Cup quarter-final berth with 36-30 victory over Racing Metro.

The Blues will have to travel to Dublin to face Leinster though after Edinburgh's bonus-point win ensured the Scottish club would finish top of Pool Two and enjoy the home tie that goes with it.

Nevertheless Baber was delighted that his side had achieved their target of reaching the last eight in European club Rugby's flagship competition.

"We are absolutely over the moon to be in the quarter-final of the European Cup," Baber added. "We targeted being in it, and we have fulfilled our target.

"This competition throughout the whole weekend has thrown up little scenarios. Hats off to Edinburgh, they got their four tries today. We scored three, and it was always going to be as close as that.

"We met a big, physical Racing side today who were on their mettle. We managed to score three tries, but we couldn't sneak a fourth.
Talent

"I think Racing wanted to sign off from this season's tournament by putting as much pressure as they could on us.

"When we take stock of what we have put together in this season's Heineken Cup, we lost one game (away to Edinburgh), and we got a bonus point out of that.

"We have got a character and ability about ourselves that manages to win games, and we are working hard as a group to make sure we develop our game.

"There is a huge amount of talent and experience in that changing room. Let's not forget we were one try away from taking the whole bag of what we needed."

Baber, however, was unable to give much information on Wales prop Gethin Jenkins, who went off six minutes before half-time with an apparent knee injury.

"It is very early to say," he said. "Over the next 24 to 48 hours we will get more information. I think he has tweaked a ligament in his knee.

"I am not sure what 'tweaked' means, to be quite honest with you, whether it means he is just hurting a little bit and it will sort itself out, or anything further."
