Leonardo Loses Tevez Interest

Paris Saint-Germain have dropped out of the running to sign Argentina striker Carlos Tevez from Manchester City.

The French Ligue 1 club, along with Inter and AC Milan, have been linked with Tevez in recent weeks.

But PSG sporting director Leonardo told French paper L'Equipe: "We made a good offer but failed to agree a deal. We will not pay excessively so we stop."

The Brazilian did confirm that PSG are chasing Chelsea defender Alex, whose transfer to QPR has fallen through.

PSG are also interested in Inter Milan midfielder Thiago Motta, with Leonardo admitting: "Both of them are possibilities but for now, nothing is done."

Last week, Inter Milan tabled a £20.7m bid for the 27-year-old Argentine striker, which was turned down by Manchester City.

And AC Milan remain hopeful of signing Tevez despite last week withdrawing from talks with City when their Brazilian striker Alexandre Pato, who had been expected to join PSG, decided to stay in Italy.

Tevez has not played for City since they beat Birmingham on 21 September.

City boss Roberto Mancini alleged Tevez refused to come off the substitutes' bench in September's Champions League defeat at Bayern Munich, while the player maintained there had been a misunderstanding.

An internal club investigation concluded that Tevez, who joined City in July 2009, was guilty of five breaches of his contract and he was fined four weeks' wages, reduced to two following intervention from the Professional Footballers' Association.
