Estadio da Luz Hosts 2014 Final

UEFA has confirmed that the Estadio da Luz in Lisbon will host the 2014 Champions League final.

Benfica's home ground, which is commonly translated as the Stadium of Light, opened in 2003 on the site of the original Estadio da Luz with a capacity of 65,647 and staged the final of Euro 2004, where Greece triumphed over tournament hosts Portugal.

The city last hosted a European Cup final in 1967, when Celtic beat Inter Milan at the National Stadium.

This season's final is May 19 at Bayern Munich's Allianz Arena while the 2013 final returns to Wembley Stadium.

The 2014 Europa League final will be played at the new Juventus Stadium in Turin.

The stadium was built on the site of the Stadio delle Alpi at a cost of £100 million and has a capacity of 41,000 spectators.

It is the first fully owned football stadium in the country and it will be the first time Italy has hosted a one-off final in the Europa League or its predecessor, the UEFA Cup.

UEFA also awarded the 2015 UEFA European Under 21 Championship to the Czech Republic
