Wayne Rooney returns to the scene of one of the low points of his career when Manchester United take on Ajax in the Europa League, with the striker insisting he has matured as a a player.
Rooney was sent off in the pre-season Amsterdam Tournament in 2006 for throwing an elbow at Pepe during a game with Porto.
The forward, who has been sent off five times in competitive football during his career, still maintains the decision was harsh but feels that six years on he would not be drawn in to the same situation.
Rooney said: "I think it was a very controversial red card and I didn't deserve it. It was a long time ago and in the past.
"I'm really enjoying my football and the team are really playing well at the minute. We've had some difficult games but come out of it really well.
"As a player, I feel I've matured on the pitch - maybe cut out some silly bookings that I did get in the past.
"So I hope that continues as well as my form for the rest of the season."
