South Africa coach Corrie van Zyl believes beating India provided a 'psychological' boost to his side ahead of their clash with Ireland on Tuesday.
The Proteas were dismissed six runs short of England's modest target of 172 but hit back by chasing down 296 against the much-fancied co-hosts.
Van Zyl believes the India win was a crucial boost for the Proteas, who are constantly battling the 'chokers' tag that follows their progress at major tournaments following several high-profile slip-ups.
'The win against India was good for us and our morale. It was a psychological boost for us and a very important game in the tournament,' said Van Zyl.
'But we are going to take it one game at a time. We are not looking far too ahead now. Our focus is on Ireland.
'We are fully aware of what Ireland have done. It's important to prepare not just from a tactical but from a mental point of view.
'Ireland are tough opponents. It's not just their fielding but how they are playing in the tournament. They have really played well.'
AB de Villiers is expected to be fit for the match despite a minor thigh strain, while a decision must be made on whether to recall Imran Tahir, who was absent from the last game with a fractured thumb.
Ireland captain William Porterfield hopes the grand surroundings in Kolkata can inspire his side to another famous World Cup victory to follow their success against the English.
The elation of that historic result has been tempered somewhat by defeats to India and the West Indies - results which mean they must win both of their remaining games to qualify.
Porterfield knows South Africa are one of the best sides around but with qualification still a burning ambition for the Irish, he is hoping to take something from the historic venue, which is the second biggest cricket arena in the world after the MCG.
'When you come to India you always hear about Eden Gardens, a bit like when are in England and people talk about Lord's.
'There's a lot of history here and, of course, it's a massive place. The lads are looking forward to getting out there and to have both of our last two games there is something pretty special.'
Trent Johnston should be fit after sitting out the West Indies match with a knee problem, while native South African Andre Botha has been suffering from a sickness bug.
