Bryan Robson to Join United Asian Tour

Manchester United and England legend Bryan Robson will take part in a three-city Asian charity tour despite recent surgery for throat cancer, organisers said on Wednesday.
United's longest serving captain said he was "extremely lucky" after his successful operation on March 3, and would attend fund-raising dinners in Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur and Hong Kong next month.
"The prognosis is good, so I count myself extremely lucky and am even more committed to raising funds to help improve the lives of vulnerable youngsters," Robson said.
"I have been overwhelmed by the support of United fans and well-wishers, and I hope everyone in Asiajoins me in supporting these events."
Former United striker Andrew Cole said it was "fantastic" that Robson was joining the tour, which will raise money for the club's charitable foundation and the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF).
"It is fantastic news that Bryan will be joining me on the tour. We are both looking forward to seeing all our fans across Asia, and really making a difference to the children there who need help the most," said Cole.

Bryan Robson Facing Health Battle

The former Manchester United and England captain, Bryan Robson, is battling cancer.
Robson, 54, who is currently Thailand's national team manager, underwent an operation to remove a tumour from his throat on 3 March in a Bangkok hospital and a laboratory report revealed a cancerous tumour which will need further treatment. The spokesman added that surgeons were "confident" the condition could be treated.
"At this moment, Bryan is fine to continue with his role as Thailand coach and his role as ambassador of Manchester United.
"Bryan and family have requested that he can continue with his treatment in private and ask that their privacy is respected."
Robson, a hero at Old Trafford, joined United in 1981, making 345 appearances and helping the club to two Premier League titles, three FA Cups and the European Cup Winners' Cup. Despite a succession of major injuries, Robson won 90 caps for England, 65 of which were as captain and he was dubbed "Captain Marvel" by the then manager, Bobby Robson.
Robson left United in 1994 and became player-manager at Middlesbrough, before retiring from playing in 1996.
While at Middlesbrough, he won promotion to the Premier League in 1995. In 1997, Middlesbrough reached both the FA Cup and League Cup finals, but lost against Chelsea and Leicester City respectively, and they were relegated at the end of the season. However, Robson led Middlesbrough to promotion the following season. They also reached the League Cup final again in 1998, but lost 2-0 to Chelsea.
Robson eventually left Middlesbrough at the end of the 2000-01 season, going on to manage Bradford City, West Bromwich Albion and Sheffield United, before taking the Thailand job.
