Dani Pedrosa coped best with wet conditions in Friday's afternoon practice for the German MotoGP.

The Spaniard - who has won in Germany for the last two years - finished ahead of German rookie Stefan Bradl (LCR Honda) and third-placed Jorge Lorenzo.

Repsol Honda rider Pedrosa edged out Bradl by seven hundredths of a second with riders testing the German circuit on full wet tyres at Sachsenring.

Briton Cal Crutchlow came seventh after finishing fifth in the morning session.

Crutchlow, riding for the Tech 3 Yamaha team, said: "It was a decent start to the weekend and I am not too far away from the best pace in both dry and wet conditions.

"I am very happy today because last year this was one of my worst races.

"I was only 14th and a lot slower than the best pace, but I was close to the front in both sessions and that's a positive way to kick off the weekend."

Pedrosa narrowly beat team-mate Casey Stoner in the dry morning session.

The first practice saw Speed Master Aprilia rider Mattia Pasini suffer a bizarre fall when a mechanic walked out in front of him in the pitlane.

The Italian was taken to hospital for checks but was fit enough to ride towards the end of the afternoon session.

Pasini said: "When I went back to the box there was an accident with a mechanic who crossed the pit lane without looking.

"That made things more complicated.

"I hit my head and my back hurts."
