Bosh Masseuse Dies in Hospital

A South Florida masseuse died at a hospital after collapsing at the Miami Beach home of injured Heat forward Chris Bosh.

A police report says the woman, whose name wasn't immediately released, went to Bosh's home on Monday. Bosh has been sidelined with an abdominal strain.

Miami Beach police spokeswoman Vivian Hernandez says the department will conduct its standard death investigation, but there are no immediate signs of foul play.

On Tuesday night Bosh and his wife Adrienne released a statement:

"Last evening, a massage therapist that we have used for some time, arrived at our home to provide massage therapy. Shortly after she arrived, she fainted and lost consciousness. We called 911 and emergency personnel arrived at our home shortly thereafter. They took her to Mount Sinai Hospital, where she passed away. Our hearts go out to her family. We are very sorry for their loss."

When asked about the tragedy, Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said Bosh, who will return from a nine-game injury absence for Tuesday's Game 5, "is focused and is ready if he can go."

The woman initially appeared to be well but suddenly collapsed. Fire rescue workers responded and transported the unconscious woman to a nearby hospital, where she died Monday night.

The report says a friend of the victim told officials she had survived cancer about a year ago. The cause of the woman's collapse and eventual death weren't in the report.
