PUMA were back in the lead on Tuesday evening as the fist fight for fist place in Leg 5 continued with arch rivals Groupama –- while Telefónica ramped up their assault on the leading pair.
Constant lead changes have peppered the past few days of racing as PUMA Ocean Racing powered by BERG and Groupama sailing team exchange blows.
At 1900 UTC PUMA were back in front with a 0.1 nm lead after being overtaken around 15 hours earlier by the French attackers.
Meanwhile, Telefónica continued to close on the front two, narrowing the gap to 88 nautical miles.
Incredibly, just three days ago they were more than 400 nm behind.
CAMPER with Emirates Team New Zealand were around 25 miles from Puerto Montt in Chile where they will stop for repairs after suspending racing at 0130 UTC.
With just under 800 nm left to sail to the finish line in Itajaí, Brazil, the conclusion of Leg 5 was this evening far from decided.
