Ireland Await French Call

The Six Nations game between France and Ireland looks likely to be rescheduled for the first weekend in March following Saturday's late postponement of the fixture in Paris.

A new date will not be announced until Tuesday at the earliest.

Six Nations officials did confirm on Monday that the Paris game would not take place this weekend.

Referee Dave Pearson abandoned the match 10 minutes before the scheduled kick-off because of a frozen pitch.

Either Friday 2 March or Saturday 3 March now look the most likely options, as that is the only free weekend before the end of this year's championship.

However, the game taking place on either of those dates would see Ireland and France playing matches on four successive weekends.

There were also reports that the representative body of French clubs had asked for the match to be delayed until 9 June because of the crowded Top 14 fixture schedule although that outcome appears highly unlikely.

On Saturday, the pitch was deemed to be unsafe following freezing weather in Paris.
