Bleiberg Gold Coast Job Ended

Miron Bleiberg has claimed that he might have been sacked as Gold Coast United coach because he wasn't the right man to join Clive Palmer's battle against Football Federation Australia.

In a candid interview on Fox Sports FC, Bleiberg also revealed that he was essentially sacked by text message on Monday morning, and that the only reason he didn't resign was because his accountant told him he would receive better benefits if he was sacked.

Despite all of this, Bleiberg said he still has a great deal of respect for Palmer and he has plenty of good will towards his former club.

"To work for Clive Palmer was fascinating, at his best he's the most charming person you could work with. We had a very good relationship on and off the field," Bleiberg said.

However, Bleiberg revealed that his relationship with Palmer had been rocky for the past few months, and that the two had disagreed over the appointment of 17-year-old Mitch Cooper as stand-in captain for the A-League clash with Melbourne Heart.

The issue reared it's head when Palmer suspended Bleiberg for supposedly disrespecting the billionaire during the press conference announcing Cooper's captaincy, but Bleiberg said he was simply trying to lighten the mood and help Cooper deal with difficult questions from the media.

As for his future, Bleiberg suggested a career in the media might be on the cards.

"I want to find a spot next to Bozza," Bleiberg said.
