Gonzo Pushes Out Tiger Woods

Tiger Woods has slipped back out of the world's top 50 after Gonzalo Fernandez-Castano finished second at the Dunlop Phoenix in Japan over the weekend.

The Spaniard, who won the Barclays Singapore Open in a play-off last week, looked on course to make it two victories from two starts.

He started the final day in Japan as leader, but eventually had to settle for the runner-up spot as home player Toshinori Muto produced a sensational final round of 63 to emerge triumphant in the rain-affected event.

However, second was good enough for Fernandez-Castano to climb to 46th in the latest world rankings, knocking Woods back out of the top 50 and into 51st.

The American was in Presidents Cup action in Australia over the weekend and secured the point that ensured America retained the trophy, although he only took a total of two points from his five outings.

For his part, Muto - who clinched his fourth win on the Japanese Tour and his first for two and a half years - jumps 87 places to 112th in the world.

Meanwhile, Holland's Joost Luiten now resides in the world's top 100 following his maiden European Tour success at the Iskandar Johor Open in Malaysia.

The 25-year-old fired a final round of 65 to win by one stroke from Sweden's Daniel Chopra and moves up to 66th.
