O'Hara with Mick McCarthy
Jamie O'Hara has pledged his international allegiance to England rather than Republic of Ireland.
The 24-year-old, who recently completed a permanent switch to Wolves from Tottenham, has represented the Three Lions all the way up to U21 level.
He does, however, qualify to play for Ireland and it had been suggested that he could be willing to answer a call from Giovanni Trapattoni.
Having failed to force his way into Fabio Capello's senior England squad, it was claimed that O'Hara may be advised to tread a different international path.
The midfielder is not about to turn his back on the Three Lions, though, and hopes regular first-team football at Molineux will allow him to stake a claim for a place in Capello's thoughts.
O'Hara told Wolves' official website: "I have decided I want to play for England.
"It's always been my ambition as a young player. I played in all the age groups through the years and now I'm looking to get off to a flying start.
"I'm looking to be a key figure for Wolves this season, and getting into the England squad is something I really want to do.
"I had a good end to last season and, coming into the new season, I want to have a cracking start and get into the England reckoning.
"I think it has been proved with this England manager that if you play regularly in the Premier League and do well, you have got a chance of getting in the squad."
